Remember when the exhausting and time consuming task of washing dishes became so much easier due to the invention of the dishwasher? Thanks to Josephine Cochrane, our tired hands finally caught a break! Cochrane was the first person to come up with the idea of the mechanical dishwasher. The dishwasher became a ‘household’ word dating all the way back to 1893 where it flourished into the vital kitchen appliance that we adore today.

Next on our list of thank yous is the inventor behind the windshield wipers. Imagine being trapped in your car in a snowstorm or the pouring rain without windshield wipers? Yikes! We wouldn’t want to either and thanks to Mary Anderson we never have to! First bought and used by Cadillac, windshield wipers became essential for every car on the market today. It’s so essential that your car can’t pass an inspection without them!

Let’s keep going, it’s our next lovely lady’s time to shine. One of the most clever creators is Miss Beulah Louise Henry.

This remarkable woman, nicknamed "Lady Edison", created 110 inventions! Two of which include the typewriter and the freezer! Imagine being unable to keep your frozen goods like meat, veggies and, god forbid, ice cream frozen?! Luckily we can erase that chilling thought and thank Miss Henry for her marvelous invention.

Now we know who created the appliance that keeps our favorite frozen treat cold but who actually invented the product that makes ice cream? None other than Mrs. Nancy Johnson! This creative woman was the first to devise the ‘hand-cranked ice cream maker’ which would later create the tasty treat that has become an absolute obsession all over the world!

Crazily enough this list doesn’t even begin to scrape the surface of all of the talented female inventors that have existed all over the world. So I think we can all agree that these women along with all of the other amazing ladies of the world deserve a thank you. Our lives wouldn’t be the same without you!
